Combine the Whitewater thrill of the Canyon Wave Trip with the scenic beauty of Wilderness Wave Trip on this in-depth Denali rafting experience! The Wave Train Trip is a half-day experience that takes you into the beautiful Denali wilderness while providing a true Alaskan adventure. With both oar rafts and paddle rafts, this experience is perfect for experienced rafters and first-timers alike! With the oar raft, all you need to do is sit back, hold on tight, and take it all in. On the paddle raft, a great option for those who want to be more involved in the rafting experience, you’ll be expected to be an active participant following your expert guide’s instructions as you head down the river. Either way, the Wave Train Trip will both fill you with excitement and awe you with the natural beauty around you.

Beginning with convenient pickup from local lodgings, you’ll then proceed on to gear fitting where each member of your crew will be outfitted in dry gear to keep you warm on your trip down the river. From launch, you’ll first head down the McKinley Run portion of your tour. This portion of the Nenana river features class II & II rapids and is the most scenic section of the river. You’ll get to sit back and enjoy the views for this part of your Denali Rafting tour before the excitement really sets in. As the Wave Train Trip takes you into Canyon Run, you’ll be greeted with rough Alaskan whitewater. Featuring rapids such as “Cable Car,” “Ice Worm,” and “Coffee Grinder,” this 2-hour stretch of the tour will have you holding on tight and grinning with excitement! After 4 full hours on the river, the Wave Train Trip will leave you with wild Alaskan memories to last a lifetime. So grab your warm layers & sense of adventure, and book your seats early on this exclusive Denali rafting tour.

Are there rapids on this tour?

Answer: Yes, there is stretch of the river that has Class III & IV rapids. Your guide is very experienced, so they will guide you through smoothly.

What should we wear and bring?

Answer: This tour operates rain or shine, and rain is common as we lie in a temperate rainforest! For comfort, we typically recommend non-cotton base layers, like polyester or wool, yoga pants, long johns, or snug-fitting clothes to wear underneath the drysuit. Additionally bring a rain jacket and 2 pairs of non-cotton socks to help stay warm (your feet will be dry but, they will be sitting in the bottom of the raft). Finally, if you wear glasses, bring eyeglass retainers like Chums or Croakies

    What is provided?

Answer: We will provide you with, all necessary rafting gear & guides, GCX3 Breathable Gull Drysuits, Type 5 Personal Floatation Device PFD, a helmet, river shoes, transportation to and from the river, courtesy shuttle from Hotel to Excursion, and finally a safe location to store your personal belongings during the raft trip.

What is the difference between the oar boat & paddle raft?

Answer: With an Oar Boat Rider, you can hold on and enjoy the adventure as your guide navigates you downriver. This option allows rafting in Alaska to be feasible for almost anyone. With a paddle raft, you will actively paddle through the waves with your guide. The Paddle Rafter demands a higher activity level than riding along in an oar boat. This option is the best for the more adventurous crowd.
