If you’re not a fan of stunning scenery, jaw-droppingly massive wildlife, and gourmet seafood, this tour might not be for you… Otherwise, you’re in luck, as our brand-new Whale Watching and King Crab Feast is one of the best excursions in Alaska for getting your fill of wildlife sightings (and king crab)! A tasty variation on typical Juneau Alaska whale watching tours, this excursion puts you in pristine Auke Bay, surrounded by lush mountains and icy-blue glaciers, for an unforgettable day of wildlife watching. Indeed, so fertile are these waters, and so consistently do the area’s 60+ humpback whale visitors return, that we guarantee you’ll spot some of these lovely, otherworldly behemoths. Then it’s time to celebrate a successful outing with a yummy crab feast right on the Juneau waterfront! One of the best excursions in Alaska for food- and nature-lovers, the exclusive Whale Watching and King Crab Station is sure to leave you with compelling memories, photos to last a lifetime, and of course a full belly!

As for our other Juneau Alaska whale watching tours, the adventure begins with pick-up directly from the cruise docks and a lovely 12-mile ride to Auke Bay, north of Juneau. Your knowledgeable local guide will make sure to keep you entertained and will answer any questions you may have en-route. Then it’s off onto the water! You’ll board a 50-passenger vessel custom-built for wildlife watching and push off into the bay, which, with some of the most pristine marine waters and dazzling views of the surrounding mountains, is sure to leave a lasting impression. No wonder the whales love it so much! Keep your eyes peeled and your camera ready: After all, besides its massive mammalian visitors, Auke Bay is home to bald eagles, graceful Dall’s porpoises, the surprisingly large Steller sea lion, and even black bears! Later, once you’ve had your fill of humpback sightings, it’s off to Juneau’s premier waterfront eatery for a feast to remember. Hopefully you’ve saved plenty of room, as you’ll be treated to crab legs, coleslaw, chowder, drinks, and of course plenty of butter for dipping. This new and exciting excursion is the king of Juneau Alaska whale watching tours!

If you’re a food lover and are also heading to Ketchikan, make sure to check out the Exclusive Flightseeing and Crab Feast for a tasty spin on the iconic Misty Fjords adventure! It’s one of the best excursions in Alaska for combining stunning aerial views with tasty seafood.

How can you guarantee that we will see whales?

Answer: The captain and crew are out there everyday, and understanding the whales' patterns and behavior is their job! Whales are creatures of habit like us and prefer certain feeding locations.

How many people are on this tour? What kinds of boats are used?

Answer: There are a few different boats used for this tour. The enclosed jet boats seat up to 28 people, and the larger catamarans can accommodate up to 49 people (if the tour is at full capacity).

    Where will we be eating?

Answer: Following the whale-watching portion of the tour, you'll be treated to a 1 lb king crab feast at a establishment along the Juneau waterfront.

Is there a restroom on board the boat?

Answer: Yes, there is a small restroom on board the boat and also an opportunity before leaving at Auke Bay Harbor. We certainly recommend using the facilities at Auke Bay before leaving, as the onboard restrooms are quite small.

What should we wear and bring?

Answer: This tour operates rain or shine, and rain is common as we lie in a temperate rainforest! For comfort, we typically recommend long pants, closed-toed shoes and a waterproof jacket. Some guests choose to bring a small bag or backpack along to store extra layers, a bottle of water and cameras.

What if our ship is delayed or doesn't make it into port? Refund?

Answer: It's very rare that a ship is delayed into port, but in those cases we will try our best to work with you to reschedule the tour to a later time. If that is not a possibility or your ship doesn't make it into port, we will refund you.
