How long is this excursion, and is transportation included?

Answer: The total duration of this activity is 4 hours with about 2.5 hours of hiking and biking. The meeting location will be directly across the street from cruise ship berth 3. We can arrange pickup at hotels north of Ketchikan with advance notice. Of course, you'll receive detailed meeting instructions and planning information in a confirmation email upon booking.

Do I need previous biking experience?

Answer: No experience is necessary, but you will be asked to sign a waiver stating that you have ridden a bicycle within the past 2 years. If this is not the case we ask that you please take a ride or two before vacation. Our bikes have step-through frames that make it easy to get on and off.

What should I wear and what gear is provided for this tour?

Answer: Helmets, gloves, rain pants and rain jackets are provided. We recommend that you wear clothing that would be appropriate for an outdoor hike through the forest with the weather on your given day. Please wear 1 or 2 layers under your coat (on chilly days). Fleece, wool and technical fabrics are ideal, but jeans or sweatpants and a sweatshirt will work just fine.

What if it rains? Do the trips get canceled?

Answer: Ketchikan is in the heart of a temperate rainforest, and we would never do anything if we stopped for the rain. Please do not let the possibility of rain deter you from booking. Southeast Alaska is at its most beautiful on misty rainy days. You'll receive quality paddling jackets, waterproof pants and spray skirts to keep everyone as dry as possible. And don't forget that the wildlife doesn't care about the rain. Of a greater concern to kayakers is strong wind, and if the conditions are unsafe, we will cancel trips with a refund.

What if our ship is delayed or doesn't make it into port? Refund?

Answer: It's very rare that a ship is delayed into port, but in those cases, we will try our best to work with you to reschedule the tour to a later time. If that is not a possibility or your ship doesn't make it into port, we will refund you.
