Enters beautiful Yukon Territory

Considering that the historic route up White Pass Summit and into Canada’s wild Yukon Territory features some of the world’s most stunning scenery and is thought by many to be among Earth’s great drives, it’s no wonder that this Skagway private tour is in high demand! The Private Emerald Lake & Dogsledding Tour, which parallels the standard Private Emerald Lake Tour but also includes an exclusive dogsledding experience, allows guests to explore en-route to the frontier town of Carcross in their own private vehicle. This 7-hour adventure will take you past towering spruce forests, glaciated peaks, crystal-blue lakes, and tumbling falls. What’s more, your personal expert guide will customize the excursion to meet your group’s exact needs, meaning you can stop and explore whenever it suits you! Yukon tours from Skagway don’t come more exclusive, more scenic, or more fun than this one.

This special Skagway private tour starts with pick-up from the location of your choosing in your personal coach. Then it’s off to the 67-mile White Pass Route, which parallels the historic Yukon Railroad, for one of the more scenic road trips in all of North America. You’ll be following in the tracks of the 1898 Klondike Gold Rushers as you move into the Yukon, pulling off whenever you like while your knowledgeable local guide answers any questions you may have. Stops at Emerald Lake and the stunning Southern Lakes region are sure to be highlights! Unlike with other private Yukon tours from Skagway, you’ll also enjoy a visit to a real Alaskan mushers’ camp! Here you’ll have the chance to meet the husky athletes themselves, to hear edge-of-your-seat Iditarod tales from their trainers, and to take a ride through the rainforest on a wheeled dogsled! Later on, in Carcross, you’ll have time to explore a truly unique frontier town under the direction of your expert guide. And with this special Skagway private tour, there’s no hurry to get back: you’ll have the chance to take in all the history and scenery you can handle! This exclusive full-day excursion is limited to a maximum of 11 people, so, as for other Yukon tours from Skagway, advance bookings are recommended. Also note that base price is for the entire group, rather than per person. See the Additional Information tab for more detailed cost information.

Is transportation included? Where is the meeting location for this tour?

Answer: Round-trip transportation is included with this trip right from your cruise ship. The guides will meet you right at the end of your specific cruise ship and you will be returned to the cruise ship at the end of the tour. If booking online, you will receive a confirmation email and voucher with complete instructions immediately upon booking.

Our ship arrives at 7:00 a.m. - do we have time to make the 7:30 a.m. departure?

Answer: Yes! In many ways, the 7:30 a.m. departure is geared towards guests arriving at 7:00 a.m. Just be prepared to disembark early or on time and there shouldn't be any problems joining the 7:30 a.m. departure.

How much time will we have at the mushers' camp?

Answer: You'll receive an instructional lesson about the musher camp and at wheeled dogsled ride that together total about 30 minutes. After this, you'll have the opportunity to stay at the camp and interact with the dogs for as long as your group desires.

How much is this tour per person?

Answer: This tour has no per person rate. It has a base rate for groups of up to 8 people, plus an additional fee per guest for the dogsledding portion. An additional fee will be applied for groups of 9-14 people to cover a larger vehicle.

    What should I bring?

Answer: Passports are REQUIRED for border crossing into Canada, only 15 miles north of Skagway. For some nationalities, additional documentation may be required. Children accompanying parents should have an original or certified copy of their birth certificate or Passport. If one or both parents are not traveling with the child, a notarized letter of authorization from the absent parent(s) is also necessary to cross into Canada. Closed-toed tennis shoes or boots are a good idea for the hike. Also bring your camera! Binoculars are optional, as these are provided for you on the tour.

    Will we see wildlife?

Answer: For wildlife sightings such as bear, moose, mountain goats, and others, the Yukon is your best bet. Short of hiring a cousin to dress up in costume, we can not guarantee you’ll see wildlife, and yet, we often do!

    Why are passports required?

Answer: This tour enters Canada’s Yukon Territory and passports will be required to go through the Canadian customs post, as well as to re-enter the United States. Passports are required for all adults and children 16 or older. Children 15 and under should have an original or certified copy or birth certificate or a Passport. If one or both parents are not traveling with the child, a notarized letter of authorization from the absent parent(s) is also necessary to cross into Canada. Some nationalities may also require a Canada and/or USA Visa. (Single-entry is acceptable). Please bring all original documentation, no copies are allowed. If passengers show up for the tour without the proper ID, they will not be allowed to board. While we will attempt to accommodate passengers lacking identification, there is no guarantee that suitable arrangements can be made, and no refund will be given under these circumstances. Passengers with felonies, DUI, or criminal charges are not allowed entry into Canada.

What if our ship is delayed or doesn't make it into port? Refund?

Answer: It's very rare that a ship is delayed into port, but in those cases, we will try our best to work with you to reschedule the tour to a later time. If that is not a possibility or your ship doesn't make it into port, we will refund you.
