A true treat for the adventure enthusiasts, take on class IV rapids of the Nenana River on the Canyon Wave Whitewater Rafting! You’ll power through “Coffee Grinder,” “Razorback,” and “Ice Worm” for a wet and wild Denali whitewater rafting adventure. Prepare to hold on tight and get your dry gear wet as you adventure down 11 miles of gorgeous, glorious river. With the oar raft option, your expert guide will take your team down the waves and turns while you hang on tight and enjoy the ride. For larger groups, you can opt for the much more hands-on option of a paddle raft. With this option, you’ll take on the Canyon Wave Whitewater Rafting for yourselves. As your expert guide at the back of the raft leads the charge, each rafter will have a part in your trip down the river. You’ll need to be on your toes & ready to follow instructions to safely guide your raft through the adventure ahead.

After convenient pickup from your local lodgings, you’ll start out the Canyon Wave Whitewater Rafting with a detailed safety briefing to prepare you for your trip. You’ll also take the time to gear up in your dry gear to keep you safe on the water. If you’ve, chosen the paddle raft option for this tour, pay extra attention to your guide’s instructions, so you’re ready to participate in your Denali whitewater rafting debut. You’ll then head out on a 2-hour river adventure, jam-packed with thrills & natural beauty. Your knowledgeable guide will keep you safe on the river, leading you expertly through the rapids, while also entertaining you with tales of the area, information about the river, and the occasional cheesy joke. Safe in your gore-tex dry suits, you’ll understand the thrill of waves crashing over the front of the boat, while remaining warm & dry! So bring your sense of adventure & prepare for memories of excitement that will last a lifetime on the Canyon Wave Whitewater Rafting.

If you prefer kayaking on flat water over Denali whitewater rafting, you might consider the Mendenhall Glacier Paddle and Trek.

Are there rapids on this tour?

Answer: Yes, there is stretch of the river that has Class III & IV rapids. Your guide is very experienced, so they will guide you through smoothly.

What should we wear and bring?

Answer: This tour operates rain or shine, and rain is common as we lie in a temperate rainforest! For comfort, we typically recommend non-cotton base layers, like polyester or wool, yoga pants, long johns, or snug-fitting clothes to wear underneath the drysuit. Additionally bring a rain jacket and 2 pairs of non-cotton socks to help stay warm (your feet will be dry but, they will be sitting in the bottom of the raft). Finally, if you wear glasses, bring eyeglass retainers like Chums or Croakies

    What is provided?

Answer: We will provide you with, all necessary rafting gear & guides, GCX3 Breathable Gull Drysuits, Type 5 Personal Floatation Device PFD, a helmet, river shoes, transportation to and from the river, courtesy shuttle from Hotel to Excursion, and finally a safe location to store your personal belongings during the raft trip.

What is the difference between the oar boat & paddle raft?

Answer: With an Oar Boat Rider, you can hold on and enjoy the adventure as your guide navigates you downriver. This option allows rafting in Alaska to be feasible for almost anyone. With a paddle raft, you will actively paddle through the waves with your guide. The Paddle Rafter demands a higher activity level than riding along in an oar boat. This option is the best for the more adventurous crowd.
