Make the most of your day on shore with a great option for booking Alaska excursions on a budget that includes whale watching in Juneau, time at the spectacular Mendenhall Glacier, and a fun, narrated trolley tour of downtown Juneau — all in one! First, hop on a tour bus and head for Auke Harbor, where you’ll spend two hours aboard a custom-made Juneau whale watching vessel sighting majestic humpback whales as they breach and flip their massive tails. Watch, too, for sea lions, seals, and an abundance of bird life. Whale watching in Juneau is an experience not to be missed! Back on shore, you’ll be driven out to the magnificent Mendenhall Glacier, where you can stroll at your leisure and take in Nugget Creek Falls, follow Photo Point Trail as it winds along Mendenhall Lake right up to the glacier’s face, and visit the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Information Center, where you’ll find a wealth of fascinating information on glaciers and the massive Juneau Icefield. Finally, get aboard a half-hourly shuttle back to Juneau and hop on one of the City Trolleys for a fun narrated tour of Alaska’s capital city, including the downtown shopping precinct, the Capitol Building, and the famous Red Dog Saloon, an original establishment from Juneau’s mining boom heyday with swing doors, sawdust floors, and original decor.

Combining the City & Glacier Tour with the Whale Watching Excursion, this six-and-a-half hour adventure includes all transportation and is a great day out and about for the whole family. Juneau whale watching is high on every visitor’s bucket list, and with this great value tour you get your fill of whale watching and so much more! It’s a relaxing day out with so much to experience and enjoy, so if you’re looking for whale watching in Juneau as well as Alaska excursions on a budget, this could be the one for you!

Juneau Whales/Mendenhall GlacierIn all worth the money..the whales once in a lifetime event..the glacier was supported by a very enjoyable walk with a display of natural vegetation. The town tour was worth the time and orientation.

Disappointing, but not your faultwas a bit disappointing for me (but not your fault........it rained and was cold and windy). Your crew, boat captain, and guides were excellent (Olivia, Alyssa and I forgot the captain's name) were the best, they made an otherwise miserable weather day sunny and bright. Must admit, never saw any whales personally, but other ppl in my party did.

Whale Watching & Glacier TourAmazing. Never mind we are in Alaska and it's fabulous without guides. I have to say our GIRL POWER crew on the whale watching tour was amazing. Captain Emily and Christi were so wonderful. Very knowledgeable and fun to be around. We saw lots of Orcas and some humpbacks along with sea lions. I have to admit it was pretty cool to have a female captain. I am sure in that part of the country she might be one of a kind. We had a blast and would do it again in a heartbeat! Well done ladies. Sadly I don't have any images as from the whale watching as I had the binoculars and my sister had the camera!
Two of our bus drivers were great and also had lots of knowledge ... One I feel like was only on the job for two weeks and you would never have known!

Can we spend more time at the glacier?

Answer: Because this tour relies on structured timing for all 3 components, it is not possible to extend the glacier experience. If you're looking to spend more time at Mendenhall Glacier, it would be better to join the Whale Watching & Glacier tour as that tour has more flexibility and you'll be able to request more time.

Will we make it back to the ship in time? What if we don't?

Answer: We've never left anyone behind and only schedule tours that work well with your cruise ship's itinerary. We leave plenty of cushion so you can confidently book your trips independently.

Is there a restroom on board the boat?

Answer: Yes, there is a small restroom on board the boat and also an opportunity before leaving at Auke Bay Harbor. We certainly recommend using the facilities at Auke Bay before leaving, as the onboard restrooms are quite small.

What if our ship is delayed or doesn't make it into port? Refund?

Answer: It's very rare that a ship is delayed into port, but in those cases we will try our best to work with you to reschedule the tour to a later time. If that is not a possibility or your ship doesn't make it into port, we will of course refund the full cost of the tour.

What should we wear and bring?

Answer: This tour operates rain or shine, and rain is common as we lie in a temperate rainforest! For comfort, we typically recommend long pants, closed-toed shoes and a waterproof jacket. Some guests choose to bring a small bag or backpack along to store extra layers, a bottle of water and cameras.

How can you guarantee that we will see whales?

Answer: The captain and crew are out there everyday, and understanding the whales' patterns and behavior is their job! Whales are creatures of habit like us and prefer certain feeding locations.

How many people are on this tour?

Answer: There are a few different boats used for this tour. The enclosed jet boats seat up to 28 people, and the larger catamarans can accommodate up to 49 people (if the tour is at full capacity).
