Rainforest Canopy & Zipline Expedition

The ultimate eco-adventure, the Rainforest Canopy Zipline Expedition receives some of the most glowing reviews of all Ketchikan tours and is definitely an excellent choice for thrill-seekers! Climb aboard a massive all-terrain Unimog vehicle for the steep ascent up a mountainside to a ziplining course bordering the magnificent Tongass National Forest nature reserve. Then launch yourself on a high-flying, fast-and-furious ride through the top of the rainforest canopy along eight dual-cable ziplines ranging from 100 feet all the way to the adrenaline pumping 750-foot line called Ben’s Revenge. Your heart-pumping adventure covers 6000 feet of scenic canopy and ground-based trails, as well as three suspension bridges swaying high above the forest floor. Keep your eyes peeled, and you could be lucky enough to spot bald eagles, black bears, and the other wildlife abundant in this pristine wilderness area.

This adventure is recommended for those who have already experienced ziplining and are ready to tackle a new challenge. As with other Ketchikan tours, pick-up and drop-off for the scenic 16-mile round trip are conveniently located near the cruise docks in downtown Ketchikan. Your adventure begins as you board the Unimog for a gravity-defying ride up a steep mountainside to the starting point for the ziplining course. Here, your experienced guides will outfit you with state-of-the-art safety equipment and give you detailed orientation before you launch yourself out into the treetops, where you’ll fly along as high as 135 feet above the ground! When you finally descend from the final viewing platform you’ll be awarded with a custom-cast medal for your achievement. Then you can get your breath back while enjoying a snack and hot beverage. For a truly breath-taking adventure, the Rainforest Canopy Zipline expedition is an unparalleled experience!

Professional and Nice StaffI did not want to be the only one in my family to ditch out on this adventure so I got up the nerve to do it. I was scared to death and was pretty lame but our guides were so patient, encouraging and professional that I was able to complete the course. These people know what they are doing. It was such a thrill! And the scenery was beautiful. This was the best excursion we did during our cruise.

Flying with the bearsIt was thrilling to fly from perch to perch with Amanda and Jake. It was our first time on a zip line and our guides especially made us feel secure and safe. The thrill was magnified knowing we were flying over a natural rainforest full of beautiful black bears. We were able to spot three different bears from high above. The whole experience was incredible. I would definitely recommend this opportunity to family and friends.

Flying HighThis was an amazing experience. I was part of a 7-member group of relatives that took part in this excursion. All of us had a great time. Our guides were energetic and extremely professional. We felt safe at all times. Don't pass up an opportunity to fly high through the tree tops and take in some amazing scenery while doing so.

Hanging Out in KetchicanVery nice facility. Very well organized. Very safety conscious. We had a great time on this excursion. The meet up was well organized, which was important to us. Transportation to and from was prompt, clean and comfortable. The staff took good care of us and made sure we were safely double tethered at all times. They re-assured the timid and let the adventurous fly free, but safely. And the gift shop was our most favorite of the whole tour, so don't forget your wallet.

Awesome experienceMy wife Kathy and I thoroughly enjoyed our zip line experience. Every staff member we dealt with was pleasant and professional. Our guides, Clara and Katy-Jo played a big part in making this an awesome experience. We felt totally safe and it was clear that they were totally focused on our satisfaction, including help us spot bears while on the suspension bridge. I would highly recommend this company for an Alaskan adventure.

How many ziplines are included on this tour?

Answer: This tour consists of 8 ziplines and 3 Skybridges connecting some of the platforms.

What if our ship is delayed or doesn't make it into port? Refund?

Answer: It's very rare that a ship is delayed into port, but in those cases, we will try our best to work with you to reschedule the tour to a later time. If that is not a possibility or your ship doesn't make it into port, we will of course refund the full cost of the tour.

What makes this zipline tour different from any other in Alaska?

Answer: It's true that you'll find several ziplining options along the cruise route, and this one can be distinguished mainly by its location. Nestled in a private reserve next to Tongass National Forest, wildlife sightings are much more common on this ziplining excursion than any other in Alaska.

    Is ziplining safe?

Answer: Safety is fundamental to this tour, and the course is inspected weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually. Dual ziplines means you are connected to 2 cables while ziplining, and you are connected at 4 points at all times throughout the course, even between stations. For each group of zipliners, you will have 2 certified guides that are versed in First Aid/CPR and AED certification.

What should I bring? Are cameras okay?

Answer: Video style cameras and Go Pros are not allowed on the course. Cameras are welcomed upon approval from the guide and will be attached by a guide. Please note that cameras are brought on your own risk and cannot be retrieved if dropped from the platforms or ziplines.
