Your Harbor & Islands Guided Paddle adventure begins with gear fitting and a paddle lesson. Then, your attentive and knowledgeable guides will lead you into Sitka Sound’s pristine waterways and rich marine environment. The intertidal zones, kelp forests, and harbors are home to an abundance of wildlife, including sea lions and seals, humpback and orca whales, porpoise, sea otters, puffins and more! It is highly unlikely that you won’t see wildlife on this Sitka kayaking tour! You may even be lucky enough to see salmon preparing to spawn near the stream. Accessibility	This tour has a maximum height limit of 6' 6" and maximum weight of 275 lbs., No previous kayaking experience is necessary, and you'll be equipped with all the gear and info you need for this gentle activity.
Cancellation Policy	Cancel up to 14-days before your tour for a refund, less any non-refundable fees., If for any reason the tour is canceled (due to unpermitting weather, for example), or if your cruise ship's schedule changes, you will receive a refund minus any non-refundable fees.

Where is the meeting location?

Answer: Sitka is a small town and easy to navigate. From the cruise ship dock a complimentary shuttle will take you downtown where our 'Big Blue Bus' will be waiting. Detailed meeting instructions will be provided on your voucher upon booking.

I've never kayaked before, can I do this tour?

Answer: This tour is well-suited for those who want to try sea kayaking for the first time. We begin with an equipment orientation and paddle lesson to ensure you’ll be comfortable, safe and will have a great time. We generally paddle at a very leisurely pace. With advance notice we can even accommodate those who have limited mobility.

What should I bring?

Answer: We provide all the paddle gear, but you'll want to wear layered clothing made of wool, fleece, or synthetics (avoid cotton), comfortable shoes with a flexible sole, and a warm hat.

What if it rains?

Answer: Southeast Alaska gets a lot of rain, we are in a temperate rainforest after all! Fortunately, rain does not diminish the fun or safety of sea kayaking. We will outfit you with fully-rainproof gear if it looks certain to be a wet day. We will cancel guided tours if we determine paddling conditions to be unsafe: strong wind, very choppy seas, greatly reduced visibility, or a combination thereof. These conditions don’t occur often, but when they do, the safety of our guests is our highest priority.

Can my child be in a kayak on their own?

Answer: Participants under the age of 12 must ride/paddle in the same kayak as at least one parent or guardian. Children too young to paddle must ride in a triple-seat kayak with two adults.

What if our ship is delayed or doesn't make it into port. Refund?

Answer: It's very rare that a ship is delayed into port, but in those cases, we will try our best to work with you to reschedule the tour to a later time. If that is not a possibility or your ship doesn't make it into port, we will refund you.
