Description

One of the most positively reviewed Skagway shore excursions, the Glacier Point Wilderness Safari takes you on a spellbinding journey through some of southeastern Alaska’s most scenic natural wonders with a voyage right up to the face of the awe-inspiring Davidson Glacier Skagway! Cruise in a catamaran along ice-scoured fjords, hike through dense rainforest, and paddle a canoe on a placid mountain lake to the stunning face of the ice wall! Your full-day wilderness adventure begins with a 60-minute catamaran cruise through the Lynn Canal, North America’s longest and deepest fjord. Stay alert to spot whales, sea lions, seals, and more as you pass by steep rock cliffs, hidden coves, and crashing waterfalls. As you take in these sights, your naturalist guide will provide a wealth of enlightening information. On arrival at secluded Glacier Point Beach, an outfitted adventure vehicle will carry you on a short drive across forested glacial moraines to base camp. A quarter-mile hike through the forest leads you to a breathtaking view of Davidson Glacier Skagway and of the lake below, where you will board a 31-foot voyager canoe for a peaceful paddle around the lake. Upon reaching the opposite shore, you will have the opportunity to hike towards the face of Davidson Glacier, if time permits. Back at Glacier Point, enjoy a delicious picnic lunch on the beach before your return cruise back to Skagway.

Ranked as the #2 Skagway activity on TripAdvisor, the Glacier Point Wilderness Safari is geared toward the active traveler who longs to get away from it all and out into the rich natural beauty of the Alaskan wilderness. Seats are limited, however, so advanced booking is highly recommended for folks booking Alaska shore excursions on your own. The Glacier Point Wilderness Safari includes dock-to-dock transportation for your convenience and will be a day off the beaten track that is truly unforgettable!
