With some of the world’s most stunning scenery around every bend, it’s no wonder the historic White Pass journey from Skagway to Canada’s Yukon Territory has been called one of the world’s great short road trips, or that it’s one of the most sought-after Skagway shore tours! There are many Skagway excursions going up to White Pass Summit and back, but this 7-Hour extended Emerald Lake tour, one of our exclusive private group tours Skagway, is a comprehensive day trip offering much, much more. On this Skagway vehicle tour, you’ll have your own private guide and vehicle for an adventure into Yukon Territory to Carcross. With this exlusive private option, you’ll enjoy stops whenever you want. The journey, which takes place a private coach, travels the entire 67-mile White Pass route, parelleling the path of the Yukon Railroad, and passes snow-capped peaks, towering forests, crystal lakes, and cascading waterfalls. What’s more, it follows the same route that the Klondike stampeders did during the gold rush of 1898! Stops at Emerald Lake, Carcross, and the Yukon’s spectacular Southern Lakes Region are highlights of the unforgettable Private Emerald Lake Tour. Don’t miss out on this favorite among private group tours Skagway!

The White Pass/ Yukon journey is simply a must-do activity when visiting Skagway, and the exclusive Private Emerald Lake Tour is the best option to not only enjoy the historic scenic journey, but also explore more of the Yukon Territory accompanied by a knowledgeable local guide, setting your own pace for the journey. You’ll enjoy a hearty lunch and refreshments at a historic station by the shores of Lake Bennett before heading toward Carcross and then your guided return journey via the Klondike Highway. This exclusive full-day excursion is limited to a maximum of 14 people, so, as for other private group tours Skagway, advance bookings are recommended.

If you’re interested in this tour but are looking to add on a hiking or dogsledding experience, check out these slight variations on this exclusive tour. (Note: This brand-new pair of adventures is an Alaska Shore Tours exclusive not available from the cruise lines!).

Private Emerald Lake TourSam was the best tour guide and driver ever. He knew so much history and was very informative about Alaska, BC, and Yukon. He stopped at very picturesque places and at one stop he told us that if we climbed the small hill that the pictures would be spectacular. Most of the members in our group climbed the hill but only after Sam climbed it with his bear spray to keep our group safe. Being the mother bear of this group I truly appreciated his views on safety. If we ever do an Alaskan cruise again I will ask for Sam. Thank You all for making this excursion everything we wanted and much more.

Private Tour to Emerald LakeWe had a great time on our private tour. Our tour guide, Tom, was very knowledgeable and customized our tour to fit what we wanted to see. The Yukon Territory is beautiful and we enjoyed our 1.5-hour hike and visit to Emerald Lake.

Fantastic TourWe booked this tour as a substitute for the train tour as it was getting full and we are not big on crowds or touristy things in general. Our driver Michelle was early and very engaging. We got a short tour of Skagway and she made a stop for me at the airport as that is my thing. The scenery along the whole ride was nothing short of spectacular and Michelle was a phenomenal guide always willing to stop at photo ops on showing us things off of the beaten path. We did see six bears in total 1 lone brown, A momma brown with 2 cubs and another momma brown with 2 cubs as well as a bald eagle. I can't say enough about how nice and personal the trip felt. I would recommend it to friends

Will we make it back to the ship in time? What if we don't?

Answer: We've never left anyone behind and only schedule tours that work well with your cruise ship's itinerary. We leave plenty of cushion so you can confidently book your trips independently.

What if our ship is delayed or doesn't make it into port? Refund?

Answer: It's very rare that a ship is delayed into port, but in those cases, we will try our best to work with you to reschedule the tour to a later time. If that is not a possibility or your ship doesn't make it into port, we will of course refund the full cost of the tour.

Is transportation included? Where is the meeting location for this tour?

Answer: Round-trip transportation is included with this trip right from your cruise ship. The guides will meet you right at the end of your specific cruise ship and you will be returned to the cruise ship at the end of the tour. If booking online, you will receive a confirmation email and voucher with complete instructions immediately upon booking.

Our ship arrives at 7:00 a.m. - do we have time to make the 7:30 a.m. departure?

Answer: Yes! In many ways, the 7:30 a.m. departure is geared towards guests arriving at 7:00 a.m. Just be prepared to disembark early or on time and there shouldn't be any problems joining the 7:30 a.m. departure.

How much is this tour per person?

Answer: This tour has no per person rate. It has a base rate of $875.00, regardless of group size, and an additional $140.00 will be levied for groups larger than 8 people to cover a larger vehicle.

What kinds of customizations are available for private tours?

Answer: To add hiking or dogsledding to this tour, see the 'Private Emerald Lake & Dogsled Tour' or 'Private Emerald Lake & Hiking Tour.'

Do you pick up at the ship?

Answer: Yes, we will pick you up and drop you off at your ship, or any where that we agree to meet!

    What should I bring?

Answer: Passports are REQUIRED for border crossing into Canada, only 15 miles north of Skagway. For some nationalities, additional documentation may be required. Children accompanying parents should have an original or certified copy of their birth certificate or Passport. If one or both parents are not traveling with the child, a notarized letter of authorization from the absent parent(s) is also necessary to cross into Canada. Bring your camera. Binoculars are optional, as these are provided for you on the tour.

    Will we see wildlife?

Answer: For wildlife sightings such as bear, moose, mountain goats and others, the Yukon is your best bet. About 50% of our Yukon excursions see some type of wildlife. Short of hiring a cousin to dress up in costume, we can not guarantee you’ll see wildlife, and yet, we often do!
