The Skagway Adventure Hike includes roundtrip transportation and begins with pickup right next to the cruise ship pier. Then, enjoy an educational town tour as you make your way through Skagway and up the White Pass along the Klondike Highway. Among the popular Alaska excursions Skagway offers is the White Pass Summit tour, which buses visitors to the summit and back, but guests on the Skagway Adventure Hike are awarded extra-special scenery you just can’t get without taking to the trail! Trekking poles are provided and steeper areas have hand-lines to help you with your ascent to the top. Binoculars are available and don’t forget your camera, because it’s truly gorgeous on this trail in the alpine Tongass rainforest. Additionally, your experienced naturalist guide will make frequent stops to teach you about the local ecosystem while you catch your breath with Alaska’s crisp, fresh mountain air.

The minimum age to participate in this Skagway excursion is 6-years-old.


This tour is rated at a strenuous level. Guests must be fit enough to hike over steep, uneven, and rocky terrain for approximately two hours. Hand lines are utilized on some of the steeper sections of the trail to assist with the ascent and descent.

Cancellation Policy

Cancel up to 14-days before your tour for a refund, less any non-refundable fees., If for any reason the tour is canceled (due to unpermitting weather, for example), or if your cruise ship's schedule changes, you will receive a refund minus any non-refundable fees.

    Where is the meeting location for this tour?

    Answer: You will meet your guides at the end of the cruise ship pier closest to town under the sign for the 'Small Boat Harbor". Detailed instructions are provided on your tour voucher.

    How long is the trail?

    Answer: Approximately 2-3 miles. Total hiking time is around two-hours and includes frequent stops.

    Are there bathrooms?

    Answer: There is a bathroom on the cruise ship pier to use prior to departing, and a non-flushing “outhouse” style bathroom at the trail.

    Is food included on this tour?

    Answer: A snack is provided at the midway point and includes trail mix, hot chocolate, and water.

    What should I wear?

    Answer: We recommend you dress warmly in layers and bring rain gear. Stable, closed-toe footwear is required.

    What if our cruise ship is late?

    Answer: Though this is extremely rare, we will work with you to try to accommodate you on a later time if your ship is late. If necessary, we will issue a refund if your cruise ship prevents you from making it to the tour on time.
