Description

In about three hours, you’ll get a real taste of what Alaska whitewater is all about. This trip takes you through two canyons on Six Mile Creek, a fast-moving river near Hope that’s known for its strong currents, narrow channels, and big, splashy rapids. It’s exciting, physical, and very hands-on.

After you check in, you’ll gear up in a drysuit and helmet and go through a safety talk with your guide. Before heading into the canyons, everyone does a short swim test in the river. It’s not meant to be intimidating. It helps you get comfortable moving through water and shows you how to float and self-rescue if needed.

Once you launch, things move quickly. The first canyon features tight lines and fast water, keeping everyone paddling and working together. You’ll feel the raft rise and drop as it moves through waves and small drops. Between rapids, there are calmer pools where you can catch your breath and take in the steep, green canyon walls around you.

The second canyon steps things up. The water gets pushier, the waves get bigger, and the action comes more often. You’ll be focused on listening to your guide, paddling hard, and staying balanced as the raft moves through the rapids. Expect to get wet and feel your heart rate climb.

This trip doesn’t require rafting experience, but you should be a strong swimmer and comfortable with physical activity. River levels change day to day, so timing and conditions can vary slightly. When you’re done, you’ll head back to the starting point tired, soaked, and usually smiling. It’s a solid Alaska adventure and a great way to challenge yourself on the water.
