Description
The Coastal Rainforest Segway Experience offers a fresh perspective on Juneau, combining scenic coastline, lush rainforest trails, and small-group adventure in one eco-friendly excursion. Designed for travelers who want to step away from crowded downtown streets and typical bus tours, this experience showcases the quieter, wildlife-rich side of Alaska’s capital city.
Your tour begins with pickup near your cruise ship in downtown Juneau, followed by a short drive—about six miles—away from the busy port area. Once at the trailhead, your local guide provides a hands-on Segway training session to ensure everyone feels comfortable and confident. Most guests are pleasantly surprised at how intuitive and easy it is to ride.
After orientation, glide along the rugged shoreline of Lynn Canal, where forested mountains meet the sea. Watch for bald eagles overhead, harbor seals along the coast, and even humpback whales in the distance. Scenic stops along the route offer excellent photo opportunities, including views of the Mendenhall Glacier on clear days.
Midway through the journey, park your Segway and take a short seven-minute walk to a secluded beach. Here, enjoy locally sourced refreshments and salmon dip while your guide shares insights about native plants, wildlife, and the surrounding coastal ecosystem.
Limited to just 12 guests with two guides, this intimate experience delivers personal attention, memorable scenery, and a fun, low-impact way to experience Juneau beyond the crowds.
