Pull your own Dungeness crab pot from the seafloor on this hands-on Alaska crabbing adventure out of Juneau. You'll bait the trap, personalize your buoy, and drop it yourself before cruising the coastline while it soaks.
The Alaska Crab Adventure runs on a small boat with a maximum of six guests, so there's room to move around, ask questions, and actually participate. Your captain walks you through every step, from rigging bait to reading the pot puller, but you're the one doing the work. This is the real thing, not a demonstration.
While your pot soaks, the boat cruises through the waters around Juneau. Eagles, seals, waterfalls, and mountain views are common along the way. The heated cabin has a restroom onboard, so you can warm up anytime and still catch the scenery through the windows. The best part comes at the end: hauling your pot back up. You might pull Dungeness crab, starfish, sea urchin, or sometimes nothing at all. That's crabbing. Non-residents can keep up to three legal Dungeness, and optional processing and shipping is available if you want to bring a taste of Alaska home.

Do I need a fishing license?
Yes. Guests who plan to handle or keep crab must purchase a one-day Alaska Department of Fish & Game Sport Fishing License ($15) in advance at store.adfg.alaska.gov. We recommend purchasing it the morning of your tour.
Where do we meet for the tour?
Meet at the green Taku Fisheries ice house building, located at the top of the Intermediate Vessel Float ramp at 480 S Franklin St, Juneau, AK 99801. Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled departure.
What is included in the tour?
The tour includes the hands-on crab pot experience, a scenic coastal cruise, captain guidance and instruction, light refreshments, and wildlife and mountain viewing opportunities. Fishing licenses, catch processing, and gratuity are not included.
How many people are on the tour?
A maximum of 6 passengers per trip. This is an intimate, small-group experience aboard a private charter boat.
Is there an age or weight requirement?
Guests must be at least 12 years old and weigh a minimum of 50 lbs for life jacket sizing.
What should I wear?
Alaska weather can change quickly, even in summer. Dress in layers and bring a rain jacket or something waterproof to stay warm and dry on the water.
Will I definitely catch crab?
While the captain works hard to position pots on productive crab grounds, catches are not guaranteed because you are pursuing wild Alaska resources. That is part of the authentic experience!
Can I keep the crab I catch?
Non-residents may keep a maximum of 3 Dungeness crabs. Non-residents may not keep King Crab. If you harvest legal crab, optional catch processing and shipping is available for an additional fee.
What if the weather is bad?
The tour operates in all weather conditions. The boat features a heated cabin with an onboard restroom, so you can stay comfortable even on rainy days. If conditions are truly unsafe, the operator will cancel and offer a full refund or reschedule.
What is the cancellation policy?
You may cancel up to 24 hours before the tour for a full refund. No refund is available within 24 hours of the tour. If the operator cancels due to weather or unforeseen circumstances, you will receive a full refund.

There is a 3 person minimum to run the tour. If the minimum is not met, it may result in cancellation/rebooking.
Catch processing and shipping is available for an additional fee; market price is charged on the day of your tour.
Cancel up to 24 hours the tour for a refund. No refund is available if canceled within 24 hours of the tour. If for any reason your tour is canceled, or if your cruise ship's schedule changes, you will receive a refund. Refunds do not include any non-refundable fees.
