First, meet your guides with convenient pickup right from the cruise docks and head for Auke Harbor. From here you’ll relax in the heated cabin of your vessel, or enjoy outside viewing areas as you spend a couple of hours aboard a custom-made Juneau whale watching vessel sighting majestic humpback whales as they breach and flip their massive tails. As you cruise the waters on your Juneau Whale Watching and Lighthouse Tour, watch, too, for sea lions, seals, and an abundance of birdlife. After time spent watching the local wildlife, you’ll dock on Sentinel Island for the next portion of your Juneau Lighthouse Tour. Onshore, you’ll explore the scenic boardwalk loop. You’ll have plenty of chances along the way for photo ops & moments to simply take in this remote experience. Your guides will then lead you to the lighthouse to tour the historic tour & inspect the beacon. Friendly & knowledgeable, your guides will answer any questions that may come up on your exploration! Don’t forget to pause and gaze across the beautiful Lynn Canal, the northern end to the inside passage. After returning to your ship, you’ll cruise back to Juneau, but don’t forget to continue keeping an eye out for the abundant wildlife. Can you see Whales Any Time of Day and do you Guarantee Sightings?

Yes, you can see them at any time as Humpback whales surface approximately every 15 minutes to breathe. We see whales every time and we promise to do the best we can to locate whales on each and every trip. If you do not see a whale on your tour, you will receive a 50% refund.

What is the Itinerary Like?

From the time we depart from your pick-up location until the time we return you, it will be about 4.5 hours which includes roundtrip transportation from your pick-up location. Most tours will include a stop at the Brotherhood Bridge for a photo opportunity of the Mendenhall Glacier. TOUR TIMELINE EXAMPLE: If your tour meeting time is 9:20 a.m., we plan for transportation to leave by 9:30 a.m. and arrive at the harbor where our boats depart by 10 a.m. When you arrive at the harbor, you will be met by your captain or guide and have an opportunity to use the restroom on land (there is one on the boat, it's just not as roomy) and then you will head down the dock to board our vessel for your whale watching adventure! You will start heading back to the harbor at approximately 12:35 p.m. (depending on where you are) so that you can be disembarking by about 12:55 p.m. to meet your returning transport at 1 p.m. The shuttle will head to the Brotherhood Bridge for a look at the Mendenhall Glacier* on your return to town. This stop will be 10 to 15 minutes in duration, you will then be returned back to your pick-up location by 1:45 p.m. *Mendenhall Glacier sighting is weather dependent.

Is Transportation Included?

Yes. We will pick you up in our courtesy shuttle near your cruise ship or hotel and drive you out to the boat and return you to your ship/hotel when we are done with the tour.

How Rough is the Water?

Juneau is located in the inside passage; there is no open ocean water near Juneau. You are within sight of land at all times. Between May and the end of August, the water is usually pretty calm. The wind is usually 15 mph or less, although an occasional storm can blow through. In September expect it to be rainy, windy, and chilly on the water.

What are the Boats Like?

We have several boats that we use depending on the group size: The custom-built M/V Alaskan (12 guests), the M/V Riptide (14 guests), and the M/V Chilkat (18 guests – for larger private groups). Each boat has a bathroom and heated cabin.

If for any reason your tour is canceled, or if your cruise ship's schedule changes, you will receive a refund. Refunds do not include any non-refundable fees.
