Description

In just 2.5 hours, this private wildlife boat tour gives you a real feel for Sitka Sound and the life that depends on it. We head out in a small, comfortable boat and let the day guide us. There's no fixed route. We follow the tide, the weather, and whatever wildlife is active at the time.

Once you’re on board, you’ll notice how close everything feels. The boat holds only six guests, so there’s room to move, ask questions, and take photos without feeling crowded. There’s a warm cabin if you want to stay inside, plus an open deck when you want fresh air and a clear view.

As we travel through island channels and kelp beds, you’ll keep an eye out for humpback whales, sea otters, sea lions, and porpoises. Some days it’s calm, with otters floating quietly or eagles perched along the shoreline. Other times, things happen fast, like whales surfacing nearby or sea lions chasing fish. That mix of quiet moments and sudden action is what makes each trip different.

Along the way, your guide shares what’s happening around you in plain language. You’ll learn why animals gather here, how they use the tides, and what makes this part of Alaska so productive. Questions are always welcome, and the pace stays relaxed.

Snacks, hot drinks, binoculars, and safety gear are all provided, so you can focus on watching and enjoying the ride. On the way back, we take our time, keeping an eye out for anything we might have missed. It’s an easy, unhurried way to experience Sitka Sound and its wildlife without feeling rushed or overwhelmed.
