Description

With some of the world’s most stunning scenery around every bend, it’s no wonder the historic White Pass journey from Skagway to Canada's Yukon Territory has been called one of the world’s great short road trips, or that it's one of the most sought-after Skagway shore tours! Many Skagway excursions are going up to White Pass Summit and back, but this 7-Hour extended Emerald Lake tour, one of our exclusive private group tours Skagway, is a comprehensive day trip offering much, much more. On this Skagway vehicle tour, you'll have your own private guide and vehicle for an adventure into Yukon Territory to Carcross. With this exclusive private option, you'll enjoy stops whenever you want. The journey, which takes place a private coach, travels the entire 67-mile White Pass route, paralleling the path of the Yukon Railroad, and passes snow-capped peaks, towering forests, crystal lakes, and cascading waterfalls. What's more, it follows the same route that the Klondike stampeders did during the gold rush of 1898! Stops at Emerald Lake, Carcross, and the Yukon’s spectacular Southern Lakes Region are highlights of the unforgettable Private Emerald Lake Tour. Don't miss out on this favorite among private group tours Skagway!

The White Pass/ Yukon journey is simply a must-do activity when visiting Skagway, and the exclusive Private Emerald Lake Tour is the best option to not only enjoy the historic scenic journey, but also explore more of the Yukon Territory accompanied by a knowledgeable local guide, setting your own pace for the journey. You'll enjoy a hearty lunch and refreshments at a historic station by the shores of Lake Bennett before heading toward Carcross and then your guided return journey via the Klondike Highway. This exclusive full-day excursion is limited to a maximum of 11 people, so, as for other private group tours Skagway, advance bookings are recommended.

If you're interested in this tour but are looking to add on a dogsledding experience, check out the Private Emerald Lake & Dogsledding Tour. (Note: These adventures are an Alaska Shore Tours exclusive, not available from the cruise lines!)

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are Passports Required?
This tour enters Canada and passports will be required to go through the Canadian customs post, as well as to re-enter the United States. Passports are required for all adults and children 16 or older. Children 15 and under should have an original or certified copy or birth certificate or a Passport. If one or both parents are not traveling with the child, a notarized letter of authorization from the absent parent(s) is also necessary to cross into Canada. Some nationalities may also require a Canada and/or USA Visa. (Single-entry is acceptable). Please bring all original documentation, no copies are allowed. If passengers show up for the tour without the proper ID, they will not be allowed to board. While we will attempt to accommodate passengers lacking identification, there is no guarantee that suitable arrangements can be made, and no refund will be given under these circumstances. Passengers with felonies, DUI, or criminal charges are not allowed entry into Canada.
Is Transportation Included? Where is the Meeting Location for this Tour?
Round-trip transportation is included with this trip right from your cruise ship. The guides will meet you right at the end of your specific cruise ship and you will be returned to the cruise ship at the end of the tour. You will receive a confirmation email and voucher with complete instructions immediately upon booking.
What Kinds of Customizations are Available for Private Tours?
There are several different options for your group as we tour. A few examples of what we can do are: Enjoy the scenery from the comfort of our vehicle, stopping for photo opportunities from the Klondike Hwy for as far as you’d like to go. Take a backroad, so that you’ll get to see more remote wilderness areas of Alaska and the Yukon. Take a picnic lunch to enjoy near a river or lake. Talk to a First Nation carver about his love of carving and the culture of his people.
Will We See Wildlife?
Of the various Skagway tours, the Yukon adventures have one of the strongest opportunities for wildlife viewing. Tours entering Yukon include a chance of encountering caribou, sheep, mountain goats, and sometimes even bears and moose. While your chances are good, we cannot guarantee wildlife sightings.
Will We Make it Back to the Ship in Time? What if We Don't?
We've never had a guest miss their ship and we only schedule tours that work well with your cruise ship's itinerary. We leave plenty of cushion so you can confidently book your trips independently. If you were to miss your ship’s departure through no fault of your own on a tour that has been booked with us, we'll get you to your next port of call.
