How often do you get the opportunity to soar in a seaplane over spectacular scenery and be dropped off at the door of a remote wilderness lodge for a superb three-course meal by the fireside? Spoil yourself thoroughly while on your Alaskan adventure with the Exclusive Flightseeing & Crab Feast Excursion, which takes you to historic George Inlet Lodge on the far, uninhabited side of Revillagigedo Island. Your DeHavilland Beaver seaplane will take you on a 25-minute journey over towering mountain peaks and deep glacial fjords, coming to rest right by the lodge, where your host will greet you and you will be seated by the fireside to begin your Ketchikan crab feast with Alaskan Amber beer, white wine, and smoked salmon by the crackling log fire. You’ll enjoy a feast of sweet and succulent Dungeness Crab in the inviting ambiance of a converted cannery bunkhouse that made an extraordinary five-year voyage by ocean barge to its current location on the shores of George Inlet Fjord. The Exclusive Flightseeing & Crab Feast Excursion combines luxury and adventure in one exciting package!

For your Ketchikan crab feast adventure, you’ll be picked up from the cruise ship docks for the short ride to the float plane base, where you’ll receive a brief video orientation before boarding your plane for the exhilarating take-off and flight to Revillagigedo Island. Your pilot will perform a gentle touchdown on the still waters of George Inlet Fjord and glide to a stop right at the dock of the Lodge. Then you’ll enjoy a relaxed and convivial meal of fresh romaine salad, succulent Dungeness crab, and rich, creamy cheesecake topped with fresh blueberries while taking in the breathtaking scenic beauty of your wilderness surroundings. Following your meal, you’ll be treated to a narrated drive back to downtown Ketchikan. While you’re in Alaska, a Ketchikan crab feast is an unmissable experience, and this Exclusive Flightseeing & Crab Feast excursion is the ultimate way to enjoy it!

Nice Excursion if you love crabCrab was delicious and all you can eat - within the time period they give you - crack fast & you can eat a lot of crab! Get that Alaskan Amber with it - eat & drink local! Fun training session by the crab girls, so don't be nervous if you're new to crab. Flight over was supposed to be 25-30 mins sightseeing. Our pilot was running behind. We were told we'd lose no flight time but we only got 12 mins. Juneau Shore Tours made it right for us since we provided documentation.

GREAT KETCHIKAN AFTERNOONVery nice adventure. First time on a floatplane flight and it was as smooth (takeoff & landing) as the big jets. What a view. Wish it was longer. Landed at George Inlet Lodge. Beautiful place. Our host Heather was great with the instructions and ALL the crab. Excellent meal. And then a scenic drive back to our ship with time todo a bit of shopping. Only rated it as 4 star because I wanted a longer plane ride. Would definitely do it again.

A Great Ride and Feast! We thoroughly enjoyed the plane ride over to George's Inlet where we smoothly learned on the water. Along the way, we saw several waterfalls and an old cannery. Ate the lodge, we were taken care of better than any normal restaurant. The beer was cold and the crabs were delicious! I'd highly recommend this activity and company!

Will we make it back to the ship in time? What if we don't?

Answer: We've never left anyone behind and only schedule tours that work well with your cruise ship's itinerary. We leave plenty of cushion so you can confidently book your trips independently.

Do the flights ever get canceled due to weather?

Answer: Yes, safety is a number one priority, so weather conditions are taken into account each day. In certain cases, the weather can lift and a slight delay will still allow the flight to continue. However, if a flight is canceled completely due to weather circumstances, you will always receive a full refund.

What if our ship is delayed or doesn't make it into port? Refund?

Answer: It's very rare that a ship is delayed into port, but in those cases, we will try our best to work with you to reschedule the tour to a later time. If that is not a possibility or your ship doesn't make it into port, we will of course refund the full cost of the tour.

What should we wear and bring?

Answer: For comfort, we typically recommend long pants, closed-toed shoes and a jacket, as the air temperature will be a few degrees cooler than the ground temperature. Since there is an opportunity to get out of the plane, a rain jacket is advisable as well.

Can you see wildlife from the plane?

Answer: If you have sharp eyes, it's certainly possible to see wildlife on the mountains below. The plane flies low enough to distinguish individual animals, but of course the pilots have to respect local wildlife so it's not an objective of this tour.

    How big are the planes?

Answer: There are a few types of planes used for the tour, and you'll typically be in a group of 6-10 guests on the flight. Everyone gets a window seat on these flights.
