Description

The Knik Glacier Landing is a great choice for those looking for an easy and affordable tour that gets them on a glacier. As with all Anchorage helicopter tours, the 30 minutes of flight time is packed with spectacular views of the diverse landscape. See mesmerizing glacial features and giant icebergs surrounded by snow-capped peaks, along with wildlife foraging on the hillsides. Then, the guided glacier walk allows you to become completely immersed in this remote and extraordinary environment. Explore the stunning azure-colored melt pools and more glacial features for 30 minutes before heading back to the base. An incredible value tour for a guided glacier walk, it’s no wonder this Knik Glacier Landing is one of the most popular Anchorage helicopter tours!

Almost immediately after takeoff, the 25-mile long and 5-mile wide Knik Glacier comes into view. As you make your way over the iceberg-studded Lake George, watch for calving from the Colony Glacier’s massive vertical ice walls. Then, excitement grows as you see the glacial crevasses, moulins, glacial rivers, and waterfalls. Your pilot gently touches down in the middle of Knik Glacier, right next to these other-worldly features. The provided crampons allow you to walk safely on the ice while you explore this wonderland with your guide. Learn about the fascinating life cycle of glaciers, fill your water bottle with crisp glacier water, and take lots of frame-worthy photos! When it’s time to head back, look for moose, Dall sheep, and even black bears as you fly low through the beautiful river valley. This Knik Glacier Landing is an experience you’ll remember for a lifetime!
