Description

Looking to experience the Alaskan backcountry, but don’t have the time for a full day of trekking? The Tundra Express will get you there! This approximately 2-hour excursion takes you into the heart of the Alaskan tundra without taking all your time. You’ll explore the mountains & unique landscapes just outside Denali National Park, maybe even catching glimpses of the impressive peak itself. Experience the soft & strange feel of the summer Tundra earth for yourself, and learn about this unique ecosystem from your guide. With expansive views all around, wildlife opportunities from above, and fresh mountain air to fill your lungs, the Tundra Express truly is one of the best Denali Park excursions for its price! And don’t forget about the stunning flight portion of this tour! You’ll experience beautiful aerial views of the Alaska Range, and rolling Tundra before landing to experience it first-hand.

The Tundra Express Helicopter Tour takes off from the base conveniently & beautifully located just outside Denali National Park. This means this Helicopter tour is one of the best Denali Park excursions for immediate views! After a safety briefing, you’ll fly for approximately 10 minutes past soaring peaks & rolling tundra into the Alaskan backcountry before touching down. As you fly, keep an eye out for local wildlife including bears, moose, caribou, & Dall sheep. Touching down, take a moment to appreciate the clean mountain air, and spongy tundra beneath your feet. This unique landscape feels like nothing else! Your knowledgeable pilot is also your guide. They will tell you all about the local flora, fauna, and landscape. As you wander the area for approximately 15 minutes, take special note of the horizon line. You might just peak Denali or Mt. Deborah! After returning to the helicopter, you’ll have another short flight back to the helicopter base for a total flight time of 15 minutes. So strap on your cameras, you’ll want photos to remember this one, and venture into the Tundra!

Frequently Asked Questions

How many passengers can fit in the helicopter?
On average, each helicopter can accommodate up to six passengers, though this depends on the aircraft's weight and load capacity.
Will there be any wildlife sightings?
That depends entirely on the wildlife, but while this isn't a wildlife-viewing tour, there is a good chance you will be able to spot caribou, moose, Dall sheep, and perhaps even a bear! With a bit of luck, you may even be able to observe these creatures in their natural habitat.
Is this a child-friendly tour?
Yes! Children two years old or younger can travel for free, provided they are seated on an adult's lap. Older children, however, will be counted as a passenger and must have their own seats.
What happens if the weather is too bad to fly?
If the weather conditions are simply too bad to fly, we will try to reschedule your booking to a later time of the day or a day that works for you. If you opt not to reschedule, or we are unable to accommodate you at a different time, we will provide you with a refund.
What if my group is larger than 6 people?
If your group is larger than six people, multiple aircraft will be utilized. The pilots will work together to try and ensure that the group arrives at the glacier at the same time, though this cannot be guaranteed.
