Experience the beauty of Southeast Alaska's native culture with a visit to Saxman Native Village! Home to the Tlingit tribe, this village offers a captivating glimpse into its rich heritage. Here, you’ll experience the art, history, and incredible landscape of the Tlingit tribe on this Ketchikan shore tour. From totem poles, traditional dancers, and traditional woodworking, you’ll leave this tour with a deep appreciation for the history of Southeast Alaska. 

Your guides will pick you up from the cruise docks and transport you to what feels like another world. Upon arrival at the Saxman Native Village, immerse yourself in the warmth of Tlingit hospitality as a Tour Host greets you in the traditional Tlingit dialect and guides you into the Beaver Clan House. Take your seat and prepare to be enchanted by the mesmerizing performances of the Cape Fox Dancers, who bring to life the stories of the village's fierce warrior ancestors through traditional songs and dances accompanied by rhythmic drumming and authentic garb.

After the performance, follow your Tour Host to the Canoe Canopy. Here, you'll learn about the art of canoe making and fishing, and visit the Carving Center for an intimate look at totem pole carving and paint making. Complete your exploration with a stroll through the totem pole park, where each pole tells a tale of craftsmanship and history. Is this tour wheelchair accessible?

Yes! This tour is fully accessible for wheelchairs, scooters, and walkers. Collapsible wheelchairs and walkers are welcome, too. Please let us know when booking if ADA-accessible vehicles are needed for your tour.

What should I wear?

Dress warmly and comfortably in light layers and comfortable walking shoes. Don't forget a rain jacket!

Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
This tour is accessible for wheelchairs, scooters, and walkers. But please advise ahead of booking if an ADA accessible van is required. Collapsible wheelchairs, walkers, strollers and walkers can be accommodated in most vehicles.
Cancel up to 14-days before the tour for a refund. No refund is available if canceled within 14-days of the tour. If for any reason your tour is canceled, or if your cruise ship's schedule changes, you will receive a refund. Refunds do not include any non-refundable fees.
