Description

Wondering what to do in Sitka Alaska for a truly comprehensive outdoor experience? Look no further! The Private Wildlife Photo Safari, Beachcombing, and More takes you all around the beautiful coastlines of this quaint Alaskan town. Along the way, you’ll explore the flora, fauna, and geographic features that make this town stand out. Climbing aboard the vessel Peregrine, you’ll have the opportunity to first explore the waters of Sitka Sound. This pristine area is framed on either side by Baranof Island & the solitary Mount Edgecumbe. As you cruise the waters, keep your eye out for marine life, including whales, otters, sea lions, and more. You’ll glide over kelp forests and circumnavigate St Lazaria National Wildlife Refuge, an ideal spot for bird watching. Finally, you’ll disembark on a private island for beachcombing, tide pool exploration, or even quiet contemplation as you take in the surrounding natural wonders.

Beginning with convenient pick-up near downtown Sitka, your Private Wildlife Photo Safari, Beachcombing, and More has you heading straight to your 30-foot vessel to begin your crew. This roomy watercraft can hold up to 6 guests & your 2-person crew. It features a heated cabin with windows all-around for unobstructed views. You’ll want to be sure to dress warmly, with sturdy footgear for the beach landings. And don’t forget to bring along your cameras to capture all the beauty around you!

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the boat have a restroom?
Yes, there is a restroom on board and the opportunity to use the bathroom before boarding the boat.
What kind of boat will we be on?
You will be aboard a 30-foot vessel offering comfort and stability to up to six passengers and additional crew. The boat features a drop bow, making it easy to board without getting wet, and there are two outdoor viewing areas and spacious seating inside. Enjoy the luxury of a smooth ride and the convenience of easy boarding with this state-of-the-art vessel.
What if our ship is delayed or doesn't make it into port? Refund?
It's rare for a ship to be delayed into port, but in such cases, we will do our best to work with you to reschedule the tour for a later time. If that is impossible or your ship fails to make it into port, we will provide a full refund.
Do you guarantee that we will see wildlife?
While whale watching is one of this tour's main attractions, we will do our utmost to provide you with an unforgettable experience without compromising the welfare of the animals. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee close sightings of these majestic creatures. Some boat operators may be willing to risk the whales' well-being to give customers a closer look, but we will not do that. Instead, we wait for opportunities to whale watch without stressing the animals.
What should I bring to this tour?
Rain is a common occurrence in the Sitka Sound area, so make sure to dress appropriately. Long pants, closed-toed shoes, and a waterproof jacket are highly recommended. It's also wise to bring extra layers in case of a sudden drop in temperature, as well as a bottle of water and your camera. Please note that space is limited, so try to pack light.
What happens if there's bad weather?
Our tours operate rain or shine, so pack accordingly and bring a waterproof jacket even if the forecast doesn't call for rain, as Alaska's weather can be unpredictable. If our tour guides deem the conditions too dangerous for the trip, your reservation will be canceled, and we will provide a refund.
