Just a short distance from your cruise docks, the Skagway Glacier Discovery Helicopter Tour begins right from Skagway’s historic shoreline. Here at the helicopter base, you will receive a quick safety briefing, before hopping in your chopper for stunning views of Skagway from above. From here, you will travel along a breathtaking flight route that was hand chosen that day for optimal conditions, as you travel to either Ferebee, Chilkat, or Meade Glacier. As one of the only Alaska shore excursions with permits to operate on so many glaciers, you will be guaranteed a once-in-a-lifetime experience! Your guide will have a multitude of information for you as you explore the ice for 40 minutes, so you can better understand these fragile giants. As you finish up the Skagway Glacier Discovery Helicopter Tour, your guide will take you back over the incredible glacier, so you can again take in the massive size of these wonders. Frequently Asked Questions

How many passengers per helicopter?
Each helicopter can seat up to 6 passengers, provided the weight and balance calculations work out in each aircraft.
What happens if the weather is unsafe to fly?

If the weather is not cooperating and the pilots determine that it's unsafe to fly, we'll do our best to reschedule you to a later time of day that works for you. If you choose not to reschedule and we can't find a time that works for you, we will refund you.

What if my tour group is larger than 6 people?
There are several helicopters available at the base and can make accommodations for larger groups with advance notice. If your group exceeds 6 passengers and requires the use of multiple aircraft, we instruct the pilots to coordinate landing locations on the glacier so that you can have your landing time together.
Can infants come on the tour?
Absolutely! We are more than happy to accommodate children of all ages. Lap children under 24 months fly for free!
Will we see wildlife on the tour?
There is a good chance wildlife will be seen during your tour, either in flight or while on the glacier. However, this is not a wildlife viewing tour and we cannot guarantee you will see wildlife.
What if I need extra help on the tour?
Your pilot will be with you the entire tour, so they’ll be happy to lend a helping hand whenever necessary. This tour does require a moderate level of fitness in order to load/unload the helicopter and navigate on icy/uneven terrain. If you require extra assistance, don’t hesitate to contact us ahead of your tour and discuss your particular needs.
