Description

Hop aboard the Chilkoot Canoe Wildlife Safari for a pristine paddle and wildlife viewing experience! With a local expert guide, you'll travel from Skagway to Haines for a breathtaking tour of Chilkoot Lake and the surrounding wilderness. Look for black bears, bald eagles, mountain goats, and spawning salmon which are all common in the area. The motor-assisted canoe allows you to speed along the beautiful lake to see all that it has to offer, while also letting you have peaceful moments of paddling.

Your wildlife safari starts when you meet your guides on the docks in Skagway, for the 45-minute fast ferry ride to Haines. This portion of the tour gives you a unique glimpse at the Lynn Canal, the widest and deepest fjord in all of North America. Wildlife opportunities begin here; watch for whales, seals, and eagles. When you arrive in Haines, you'll journey over to Chilkoot Lake, including a quick stop at the historic Fort Seward and a drive through Chilkoot River Valley. Upon reaching Chilkoot Lake, you'll hop in the traditional and spacious canoe for two hours of exploration on the lake. Keep your eyes out for stunning waterfalls, salmon spawning streams, and coves on your journey through the calm water. After, you'll head back to Haines for a small picnic on a beautiful beach! Your Chilkoot Canoe Wildlife Safari concludes with the ferry ride back to Skagway.
