All aboard for one of the world’s most famous scenic train journeys! Travel the same route that the Klondike stampeders used during the gold rush of 1898 aboard the historic White Pass train! You’ll travel in a vintage carriage from Skagway all the way to Canada’s Yukon Territory on the Bennett Lake Scenic Journey. Your route on this classic Skagway train journey covers 67.5 miles to the town of Carcross in the Yukon, passing through a wonderland of snow-capped peaks, towering forests, crystal lakes, and cascading waterfalls. Along the way you’ll stop off at the 1903 Bennett Station for a browse through the historic White Pass Museum and a walking tour of the historic gold rush townsite, followed by a hearty lunch back on-board as the train travels beside the placid beauty of Lake Bennett toward Carcross. Meet your guide at the Carcross train depot to continue along the scenic Klondike Highway for a different viewpoint on your return journey! Visit sights not accessible from the railroad such as Emerald Lake and Carcross Desert before returning to Skagway.

Essential tour! Perfect dayWe had the perfect sunny day for this trip which provided us with some amazing photos!
We were introduced to our bus driver, Brian, before we even got on the train and we were given instructions on where to meet him for the bus ride back.
I hear that the information given on the train was great, however, I spent almost the whole ride on the platform enjoying the sites and refreshing air. I knew when things were coming up as everyone would run out to the platform lol.
We got to take a 5-minute walk on the Chilkoot Trail at Bennett Lake to get some great pictures up top.
There was some time in Carcross to shop and stamp our passports, I chose the moose stamp.
The bus ride back was great; we had time to take a much-needed nap and Brian took us to some great spots for tourist pictures (Yukon and Alaska signs) and even took the pictures!
This tour is definitely a must for anyone going to Skagway!

A must do in Skagway! We both agree this was our favorite excursion that we went on in Alaska. The views from the train are something I have never seen before first-hand, and the tour guide did an excellent job of keeping our interest throughout the trip with interesting facts and history about the land.

Excellent Tour with Beautiful ViewsWe had a wonderful time on our tour to Carcross, Yukon! The sun was shining and Bennett Lake was still like glass - we were so fortunate! The team on the 7:30 AM departure train and bus driver, Brian, took great care of us and offered entertaining and interesting commentary throughout the tour. There were opportunities to get to walk around at Bennett Lake and in Carcross. Our bus driver stopped along the road so we could take photographs and try the natural spring water from Bridal Veil waterfalls.
Lunch was a packed box with a real turkey sandwich (not deli meat), grapes, cheese, sausage, chips, and a chocolate chip cookie/bar. It was the perfect size and served at the perfect time. You are allowed to bring your own snacks and drinks on board.
Outstanding day!

Rail/Bus TourPlanned this excursion outside of the cruise schedules...
This trip was was totally amazing and I loved hearing about all the history along the rail. The lunch provided on the train was very tasty. We also had access to all the bottled water we liked which was nice.
The driver, Mike, met us prior to the train trip to explain the day's plan....everything well organized. Great driver on the trip home...full of local info with good background knowledge of the area. Mike made sure to stop as much as he could to show us all the amazing sites.
Great day...thoroughly enjoyed by my entire group.
Make sure you factor in walking time from ship to train station to start the morning, but the driver will return you to the ship after the tour if you like.
