Description

All aboard for one of the world’s most famous scenic train journeys! Travel the same route that the Klondike stampeders used during the gold rush of 1898 aboard the historic White Pass train! You'll travel in a vintage carriage from Skagway all the way to Canada’s Yukon Territory on the Bennett Lake Scenic Journey. Your route on this classic Skagway train journey covers 67.5 miles to the town of Carcross in the Yukon, passing through a wonderland of snow-capped peaks, towering forests, crystal lakes, and cascading waterfalls. Along the way you’ll stop off at the 1903 Bennett Station for a browse through the historic White Pass Museum and a walking tour of the historic gold rush townsite, followed by a hearty lunch back on-board as the train travels beside the placid beauty of Lake Bennett toward Carcross. Meet your guide at the Carcross train depot to continue along the scenic Klondike Highway for a different viewpoint on your return journey! Visit sights not accessible from the railroad such as Emerald Lake and Carcross Desert before returning to Skagway.

This exclusive Skagway train journey goes further into the Yukon Territory than most other White Pass train excursions, which only go as far as White Pass Summit. Enter the Southern Lakes Region of Canada as the railroad wraps around a remote section of Bennett Lake not accessible by any other way. This exclusive journey is available seven days a week, but limited seating means it’s advisable to book early. This fantastic scenic train journey is a chance to experience areas of incredible natural beauty that are otherwise only accessible by hiking the famous Chilkoot Trail. It's an epic all-day adventure that is truly unforgettable! The 7:45 a.m. departures begin with the train first and the Klondike highway second while the 9:30 a.m. departures operate in reverse order.

What is the lunch?

On each departure, a lunch is served on board the train between the Bennett Station House and Carcross. It is a hearty boxed lunch consisting of a sandwich, chips, side, and dessert.

Our ship arrives at 7:00 a.m. - will we have time to make this tour?

Yes! Actually, most ships coming into Skagway throughout the summer share a 7:00 a.m. port time and in many ways the 7:45 a.m. departure is geared towards guests arriving at 7:00 a.m. Just be prepared to disembark early or on time and there shouldn't be any problems making it to the meeting location on time.

How long is this excursion?

This Skagway shore excursion lasts approximately 2.5 hours from start to finish. You'll have plenty of time for another activity in the morning or for just exploring Skagway on your own!

Participants must check-in at the White Pass depot office to obtain tickets for this tour.

Why are passports required for this tour?

This tour enters Canada’s Yukon Territory and passports will be required to go through the Canadian customs post, as well as to re-enter the United States. Passports are required for all adults and children 16 or older. Children 15 and under should have an original or certified copy or birth certificate or a Passport. If one or both parents are not traveling with the child, a notarized letter of authorization from the absent parent(s) is also necessary to cross into Canada. Some nationalities may also require a Canada and/or USA Visa. (Single-entry is acceptable). Please bring all original documentation, no copies are allowed. If passengers show up for the tour without the proper ID, they will not be allowed to board. While we will attempt to accommodate passengers lacking identification, there is no guarantee that suitable arrangements can be made, and no refund will be given under these circumstances. Passengers with felonies, DUI, or criminal charges are not allowed entry into Canada.

Minimum Age: There is no minimum age to join this tour

You will need to walk to the Train Depot (~15 min leisurely pace) from the Dock as there is no transportation provided

The lunch option is a turkey sandwich. A vegetarian lunch is available upon request ahead of time.
