6 Hour Kenai Fjords National Park Cruise
Description
The 6-Hour Kenai Fjords National Park Cruise ticks all the Alaskan boxes: wildlife, scenery, and glaciers! This incredible cruise will take you and your family through Kenai Fjords National Park along the best route for picturesque views and wildlife sightings. Where else can you get this close to a tidewater glacier and also see whales, sea otters, sea lions, bald eagles, and more? You’ll be surrounded by stunning waters, towering landscapes and peaks, and some of the most stunning glaciers in Alaska. This tour is fully narrated by knowledgeable captains who will make sure you don’t miss a moment of incredible sights!
You’ll check in for your cruise at the Harbor 360 Hotel and board your vessel on the dock directly behind the hotel! Once onboard, make yourself comfortable in either the heated inside cabin or outside viewing areas. Take advantage of the complimentary binoculars and get ready for your once-in-a-lifetime adventure! A complimentary deli lunch will be provided on board, and other snacks, beverages, and full-bar drinks are available to purchase, too.
The captain will guide you through Resurrection Bay to the Gulf of Alaska and Aialik Bay. You’ll see Bear Glacier (the largest in Kenai Fjords National Park!), Holgate or Aialik Glacier, Chiswell Islands, and Bird Rookeries. This “Captain’s Choice” route may vary based on the captain’s knowledge of wildlife in the area that day, which makes this experience even more special. Keep your eyes open for glacial calving around the tidewater glacier, where large chunks of the glacier fall into the water! And don’t worry, the captain will be sure to direct your sight to all the exciting events happening around you. Humpback whales may make an appearance, along with sea lions, puffins, and harbor seals, so don’t forget your camera!

Frequently Asked Questions
Will I get Seasick on this Cruise?
As this tour crosses through the Gulf of Alaska for a short time, there is a higher chance of seasickness due to the open waters. If you are prone to seasickness, we recommend taking motion sickness medication before the cruise. This medication is available for purchase at the check-in office and onboard the cruises.
Will I See Any Whales on this Cruise?
While we cannot guarantee whale sightings, our captains are out there every day and know the wildlife hot spots to give our guests the best chances of viewing whales. On average, we see whales on 80% of our 6 Hour Kenai Fjords Wildlife Cruises between June and mid-August. The more time you are on the water, the greater your chances are of seeing whales!
Will I See any Glaciers on this Cruise?
Guests will get to view one active tidewater glacier in Aialik Bay. Depending on the weather, you may see Bear Glacier, which is the largest glacier in Kenai Fjords National Park. Bear Glacier is a piedmont glacier that ends in a freshwater lake. You may also view alpine glaciers perched high in the mountains!
Can I Take this Cruise and the Train on the Same Day?
Yes! The afternoon cruise works with the same-day, round-trip Alaska Railroad transportation from Anchorage. A representative will be at the depot to help you to the check-in office. It is only a 2-minute walk from the train depot to the check-in office. Following the cruise, guests will have enough time to walk back to the depot before the train departs at 6:00 P.M. If the train arrives late, we will do our best to transfer passengers to a different date or to the 4 Hour Cruise that departs at 12:30 pm.
