Description

Get ready for the Helicopter Glacier & Musher Camp Adventure, the ultimate Skagway shore tour adventure! Buckle up as you take off from Skagway’s waterfront, soaring over rugged wilderness, snow-capped peaks, and glacial landscapes. Your journey will take you to the remote Denver Glacier, where you’ll touch down in the heart of Alaska’s wild beauty and meet an experienced musher and their team of sled dogs, eager to show you a taste of their legendary sport.

This is no ordinary tour—this is an all-access pass into the life of the Iditarod! Helicopter Glacier & Musher Camp Adventure gives you an up-close look at the extraordinary bond between musher and sled dog. Hear trail tales, learn about dog training and sledding, and feel the energy as you help harness the team for an exhilarating run across the glacier. These dogs aren’t just pets—they’re elite athletes trained for one of the world’s most challenging races. Watch their excitement and power as they sprint across the snow, led by their musher’s commands, in a spectacular display of speed and skill.

But the adventure doesn’t end there! After the sledding demonstration, head over to meet the next generation of racers—the puppies! Cuddle with these future champions, take photos with them against the majestic backdrop of the glacier and capture memories of this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

This Skagway shore tour offers a heart-pounding blend of adventure, education, and Alaska’s raw natural beauty. Perfect for dog lovers, thrill-seekers, and anyone looking to immerse themselves in the wild. Don’t miss your chance to book the Helicopter Glacier & Musher Camp Adventure—spaces are limited for this unforgettable journey!

Please note that this tour does not include a dogsled ride in order for the musher teams to be better stewards of the Denver glacier and its conditions throughout the season.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I need extra help on the tour?
Your pilot will be with you the entire tour, so they’ll be happy to lend a helping hand whenever necessary. This tour does require a moderate level of fitness in order to load/unload the helicopter and navigate on icy/uneven terrain. If you require extra assistance, don’t hesitate to contact us ahead of your tour and discuss your particular needs.
Will we see wildlife on the tour?
There is a good chance wildlife will be seen during your tour, either in flight or while on the glacier. However, this is not a wildlife viewing tour and we cannot guarantee you will see wildlife.
What happens if the weather is unsafe to fly?

If the weather is not cooperating and the pilots determine that it's unsafe to fly, we'll do our best to reschedule you to a later time of day that works for you. If you choose not to reschedule and we can't find a time that works for you, we will refund you.

How many passengers per helicopter?
Each helicopter can seat up to 6 passengers, provided the weight and balance calculations work out in each aircraft.
What if my tour group is larger than 6 people?
There are several helicopters available at the base and can make accommodations for larger groups with advance notice. If your group exceeds 6 passengers and requires the use of multiple aircraft, we instruct the pilots to coordinate landing locations on the glacier so that you can have your landing time together.
Can infants come on the tour?
Absolutely! We are more than happy to accommodate children of all ages. Lap children under 24 months fly for free!
Do we get to ride in a sled on this tour?

While guests will not get the opportunity to ride in a sled on this tour, they will be able to help harness the dogs to the sled, watch a team race across the glacier, and play with the puppies and take pictures afterward!
