Holland America Ships Sailing Alaska in 2027

Holland America deploys six ships to Alaska for the 2027 season, sailing from three embarkation ports: Seattle, Vancouver, and Whittier. Each ship follows a weekly rotation, and many itineraries connect with Holland America's popular Cruisetour land packages through Denali National Park, Fairbanks, and the Yukon Territory.

Most Holland America Alaska cruises are 7-day roundtrip sailings, though the line also offers extended 14-day voyages and their signature Cruisetour packages that combine the cruise with land-based travel through Denali National Park, Fairbanks, and the Yukon Territory. These Cruisetours are unique to Holland America and a major draw for guests who want the complete Alaska experience.

The route differences matter for planning your excursions. Ships departing from Seattle (Eurodam) follow a different port rotation than those from Vancouver, visiting Sitka and Icy Strait Point instead of Skagway. Vancouver-based ships (Koningsdam, Zaandam, Nieuw Amsterdam) typically sail the "Tracy Arm" or "Glacier Bay" routes, stopping at Juneau, Skagway, and Ketchikan. Whittier-based ships (Westerdam) sail a northbound or southbound route connecting to Denali Cruisetours. Regardless of which ship or itinerary you've booked, you'll have ample time in port to explore Alaska's best shore excursions independently.

Which Holland America Ship and Route Should You Choose?

Pick the route first and the ship second. Holland America runs three distinct Alaska products in 2027, and they are not interchangeable.

Seattle round trips sail on Eurodam and Noordam. These are the Inside Passage classics and the easiest to reach if you are flying in from the Lower 48. Eurodam is the one to want: it calls at Juneau, Icy Strait Point, Sitka and Ketchikan on almost every sailing, which is the widest port spread of any Holland America ship in Alaska, and it includes a Glacier Bay day. Noordam runs a shorter port list built around Juneau, Sitka and Ketchikan with an Endicott Arm scenic morning.

Vancouver round trips sail on Nieuw Amsterdam, Koningsdam and Westerdam, and they concentrate on the core three: Juneau, Skagway and Ketchikan. These are the itineraries to choose if Skagway is a priority, because Holland America's Skagway calls are unusually long. If you want Sitka or Icy Strait Point, these are not the ships.

The Gulf of Alaska route runs on Zaandam between Vancouver and Anchorage, and it is a genuinely different trip. Alongside Juneau and Skagway it reaches ports the round trips never see, including Homer, Kodiak and Valdez, and it connects directly to the interior. One end of your holiday is in Alaska rather than in a departure port, which is what makes the land extension practical.

A word on the 2027 season specifically: this is Holland America's eightieth year in Alaska, and the deployment is built around that. If you are choosing between a Vancouver round trip and the Gulf route and the extra days are affordable, take the Gulf route. Glacier Bay, Tracy Arm and Scenic Cruising Days

Scenic cruising days are not port days. There is nothing to book, nobody gets off, and the ship is the viewing platform.

Glacier Bay National Park is the headline, and Holland America holds more entry permits than most lines, which is a real advantage rather than marketing. The park limits how many ships may enter each day, so a Glacier Bay day is not something a line can simply add.
